Sorry for the bad potatocam picture of a Clubman and a Hardtop. There's also another one at my office building, but its not an S. Also, I have the only manual.

SOON......

It's only an auto, so it's not going to do much.
The white one on the other hand....

I'm referring to the car behind the Minis. Watch out.

It's only an auto, so it's not going to do much.
It's also a Honda. It likely feels very depressed.

Oh. It's probably going to back itself out the window right there behind it.

Also, there is an incredibly incomprehensible Infiniti Q50.
I was somewhat referring to what that would actually do, since it started out as a decent 3 series competitor with letter recognition, but has morphed into Johan de Nysschen's former employer's Japanese counterpart.

I see that car all the time on the road, it's the looks that are selling it, and those daytime LED's that impress potential retired old-people boring buyers.

So does that make it a Japanese Buick or a Japanese Audi?
![]() 02/06/2014 at 15:53 |

That's....a good question. I'm leaning towards Buick since they don't have a dominating racing program.

But an A4 has as much in common with an R18 as an apple has with a kumquat.
And most people buying Audis don't even know what an R18 is. So it could be considered a moot point.

You're completely correct.

Still, it doesn't change the fact that *people* are buying Q50s.
That car just makes me feel...I really don't know. But I do know it's not good.

It's scary because the majority of people couldn't care less about steering feel, and if enough people buy it, they'll think it's okay to put it on more cars and more cars until every car has drive by wire steering. Scary.

EPAS is bad enough if done half-assed, but steer-by-wire is almost as bad as some of the autobrake systems.

Every time some one posts the Volvo video I HAVE to watch it. Never gets old. It's scary because some people probably rely on this stuff in everyday usage.

I can never tell if I should laugh, or be horrified that someone is going to rely on that and mentally check out.
I may not be Clarksonesque-spike-in-the-middle-of-the-wheel, but the Q50 drive by wire is enough to say no.
Forget it, I'm going to laugh at the controlled Volvo test with the engineer reaction of "That didn't quite go......as planned"

"We've had some kind of mishap" is the funniest part.

Aaaaannnnd there goes my productivity.
I'll be laughing all the way home now.
